About Us
My first experience with Asian food of any sort wasn't until I was 15 at Toronto's Chinatown when my family was there for a restaurant industry gathering. I grew up in a multi-generational, fine dining business and we found ourselves in an unusual situation. We had no idea what anything was on the menu, let alone what to order, so we let the chef pick our dishes. I can't even recall what we ate, but I remember how every bite was filled with complex flavors that I had never tasted before. It was spicier, louder, and much more informal than the food I knew. We slurped noodles and sat in a circle reaching over and around each other for bites in the center of the table. I was hooked!
It is pretty simple. I cook food that I love to eat. I am by no means an expert on Asian cuisine. I have just started skimming the surface of all the different Asian countries' cuisines, let alone the different regions within those countries. The more I know, the less I know.
Haochi US (how-churr) is the Mandarin word for delicious. I started this company because I couldn't find the foods I craved here in West Michigan. I am dedicated to always improving the quality, paying a living wage to the amazing diverse staff that helps me hand-roll each dumpling, and remaining community-minded in our endeavors.
Thanks,
